I finished watching "13 going on 30" with family and I could not stop laughing at the following scene:
This scene is right after Jenna (13) switched to being (30) that same morning. She has no clue that she is a successful magazine editor at 30. In her mind she is still 13 years old!
Lucy: Okay, Jenna, repeat after me: I am Jenna Rink, big time magazine editor.
Jenna: I am?
Lucy: Say it.
Jenna: I am Jenna Rink big time magazine editor.
Lucy: I'm a tough bitch.
[Jenna looks away, embarrassed to say it]
Lucy: Say it!
Jenna: I am a tough
[whispers]
Jenna: bitch.
Lucy: I'm gonna walk into this office and not let anyone know I'm hung over.
Jenna: But that's just it. I'm not hung over-
[Lucy gives her pointed look]
Jenna: [sighs] I'm gonna walk into this office and not let anyone know I'm hung over.

So-called "I"
"I" rules most of the planet.
"I" kills in the name of "I."
"I" matters more than anything.
"I" is a powerful leader.
"I" is needy.
"I" lives to buy and spend.
"I" cares for nobody else.
"I" is dark.
"I" dies alone.

How to brainstorm innovative ideas
1. Suspend judgment- don't shut down ideas too quickly (regardless of how ridiculous it might seem).
2. Seek quantity- the more ideas you come up with the more likely you are to have at least one workable idea arise from them
3. Seek crazy ideas- some odd ideas might actually be useful in certain contexts
4. Build upon ideas - small ideas can evolve and morph into fantastic ideas

Dark Side of Work/Life Balance
Work/life balance appears to be a non-threatening and a positive thing for women, but only for a certain few "middle class" individuals in our society. The trouble lies when work/life balance is fed by making the lower class continue to provide service to the "middle class," which only promotes the social hiearchy in American society. While, sure it is nice for "middle class" individuals to have more "leisure" and be valued for "unpaid labor," we need to be cautious about the negative implications of work/life balance as well. While these social issues only add to the complexity of life, these issues do not need to be "solved" by still keeping the "poor" and "disatisffied" with their lives. The endless cycle of rich/middle/poor appears to be endless, and we need to figure out if we need to intervene in this cycle, or keep it the same, since it has been working for the selective few all of these years.
